The best Vitamin D3+K2 supplements — How to identify quality

Vitamin D3 and K2 are among the most discussed micronutrients – especially during the sun-deprived winter months. The offerings range from simple vitamin D capsules to combined liquid preparations in various dosages and carrier oils. What makes the difference are a few, but crucial, criteria.

Why D3 and K2 together?

Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) and vitamin K2 (menaquinone-7) are often used together because their functions complement each other effectively. Vitamin D contributes to the normal function of the immune system and to the maintenance of normal bones and muscle function. Vitamin K contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and normal blood clotting. A combination supplement with both vitamins in a defined dosage is therefore often preferable to taking them separately.

How do I recognize a high-quality D3+K2 supplement?

1. Liquid or capsules – which is better?
Oil-based liquid supplements offer a practical advantage: the dosage can be flexibly adjusted – from a few drops to the full daily dose. In addition, fat-soluble vitamins like D3 and K2 are directly embedded in an oil carrier, which supports absorption in the digestive tract. Capsules are more convenient for daily use but offer less flexibility in dosing.

2. The right K2 form: Menaquinone-7
Not all Vitamin K2 is the same. Menaquinone-7 (MK-7) is considered the most biologically active form and remains in the body the longest. Supplements with MK-4 or without a specified K2 form are harder to assess. Pay attention to the exact designation on the packaging.

3. High-quality carrier oil
Since D3 and K2 are fat-soluble, the quality of the carrier oil is crucial. MCT oil from coconut is considered particularly suitable – it is tasteless, well-tolerated, and stable. Combined with sunflower oil, it creates a balanced oil base.

4. Clear dosage information per serving
A reputable supplement precisely declares how much Vitamin D3 and K2 are contained in a defined serving – in µg and IU for D3, and in µg for K2. Vague statements like "contains Vitamin D" without quantity information are a warning sign.

5. GMP-certified manufacturing
GMP stands for Good Manufacturing Practice – a binding, verifiable standard for the manufacturing of dietary supplements. Not a marketing promise, but a certification.

6. Lab-tested batches
Every production batch should be tested for purity and identity. Especially for liquid supplements, clean quality control is particularly important.

7. Light-protected packaging with precise dispensing
Vitamin D3 and K2 are light-sensitive. Amber glass reliably protects the contents from light exposure. An integrated pipette also enables precise, drop-by-drop dosing – without waste and without contamination.

Natura Nova's Liquid Vitamin D3+K2 — this is how it meets those criteria

Our liquid Vitamin D3+K2 provides 20 µg of Vitamin D3 (800 IU) and 80 µg of Vitamin K2 as Menaquinone-7 per serving (3 drops) — in a liquid formulation based on MCT oil (coconut) and sunflower oil. Each batch is laboratory-tested for purity and identity, and manufactured in Germany with GMP certification.

Lactose-free, gluten-free, free from artificial additives. Bottled in a brown glass bottle with a pipette — for precise dosing, optimal light protection, and without microplastics. One bottle is sufficient for 300 servings.
