Not all astaxanthin is the same. Astaxanthin capsules from Natura Nova provide 6 mg of natural astaxanthin per capsule – obtained from standardised oleoresin of the freshwater microalga Haematococcus pluvialis, the best-known natural source of this red carotenoid from the xanthophyll group. What standardisation means: an oleoresin with a 5% astaxanthin concentration ensures that each capsule reproducibly provides exactly the same amount – regardless of the batch. The formula contains no anti-caking agents, fillers or synthetic excipients.
In nature, Haematococcus pluvialis forms astaxanthin as a protective pigment under extreme conditions – under intense light or nutrient deficiency, the alga accumulates particularly high amounts of the red pigment. This carotenoid also gives salmon, krill, shrimp and flamingos their characteristic colour, which they obtain through the food chain. An important difference: synthetic astaxanthin is mainly used in aquaculture for fish colouring and is not chemically identical to the carotenoid from the microalga. Natural astaxanthin from Haematococcus pluvialis has been part of nutritional research worldwide for decades.

For every batch of the astaxanthin capsules, only standardised Haematococcus pluvialis oleoresin with a 5% astaxanthin concentration is used. Production takes place in a GMP-certified facility in Germany. Before filling into the amber glass jar, every batch is laboratory tested for purity, identity and microbiological parameters. The vegan HPMC capsule shell contains no animal-derived ingredients.
At a glance:
- 6 mg natural astaxanthin per capsule from Haematococcus pluvialis oleoresin (5% concentration)
- No synthetic astaxanthin – obtained exclusively from the microalga
- Standardised specification: reproducible, batch-precise, clearly documented
- Laboratory-tested batches for purity, identity and microbiological parameters
