Hawthorn (Crataegus) is one of the best-known herbs in European plant knowledge – its leaves, flowers and berries have been used for centuries in traditional European herbal medicine. Olive leaf brings Mediterranean tradition into the formula: it has been known in the Mediterranean region since antiquity and has been the subject of nutritional research for decades. Lemon balm and rosemary provide rosmarinic acid as a characteristic plant compound; lavender and yarrow complete the formula with further classic herbs from the European tradition.
